Rant *On*

Remember this? http://dalaynam.blogspot.com/2008/12/high-fructose-corn-syrup.html
It was just a few days ago. There was a comment left there last night that's the cause for this post.
So just as a warning: I'm getting up on my soapbox. Hehe.

First: If you leave a comment on my blog, I'd really appreciate it if you at least signed your name, let me know where you came from if you don't usally post here!!
If you leave a comment and don't sign in or leave your name because you don't want people to know who said it or "start something" Why??? If you're going to say something, be able to stand behind it.
I'd hate to have to go private, but somtimes I feel like it when I realize that people who aren't willing to let me know who they are are looking at my stuff. I have pictures of my Daughter on here. It just bugs me.
I don't mind at all when people post here when they let me know who they are. I think it's cool when people say "Hey, I came over from your Mom's blog" or "I know so-and-so and thought I'd check out your blog".

Second: (To the commenter:) Really?? This was the comment: http://www.hfcsfacts.com/ its really no worse than sugar... its all about quntity"

Yes, it's all about quntity, but it's in everything and there's no denying that Americans have too much of it.
And I'm sorry, but it isn't "no worse than sugar". Show me some facts becides what *THEY* have on *THEIR* website and from studys that weren't funded by *THEM* and then I might listen to what you have to say. But just posting *THEIR* website to back you up? Sorry, it doesn't convince me.

Becides the quotes and links I have on that post, here's another one.
"The medical profession thinks fructose is better for diabetics than sugar," says Dr. Field, "but every cell in the body can metabolize glucose. However, all fructose must be metabolized in the liver. The livers of the rats on the high fructose diet looked like the livers of alcoholics, plugged with fat and cirrhotic."
Again... Really??
And my claim that studys that showed it is "No worse than sugar" and stuff that's all over their website are funded by the company or people that have an intrest in it?? Check this out. (About the HFCS group trying to say that it's just the same as sugar,)
"To get that message out, the campaign relies on nutritional research. But CBS News has learned that funding for many of the major studies came from companies with a financial stake in the outcome.

Of the six studies CBS News looked at on
the association’s Web site that "Confirm High Fructose Corn Syrup [is] No Different From Sugar," three were sponsored by groups that stand to profit from research that promotes HFCS. Two were never published so their funding sources are unclear. And one was sponsored by a Dutch foundation that represents the interests of the sugar industry.

Pepsi funded one study, so did a D.C. based lobbying group that gets their money from food, chemical and drug companies. And the American Beverage Association gave a grant for another.

One researcher who was involved in three of the studies, Dr. James M. Rippe, a cardiologist and founder of the Rippe Lifestyle Institute says there is no link between HFCS and obesity and calls contrary evidence "accusations" and "speculation."

Rippe’s ties with industry are no secret. Pepsico, Tropicana and Quaker among others are all listed as Rippe Health Partners on his
Web site along with this quote: "The RLI research team conducts multiple studies of mutual interest to RLI and PepsiCo North America in topics such as short-term energy regulation response to high fructose corn syrup…"

(All from CBS website: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/10/01/cbsnews_investigates/main4491513.shtml )

Ahhh... That feels better. Honestly, I don't mind a good debate. So if you want... bring it on. Lol!! Honestly, I mean this in all good. I don't even know who I'm talking to! LOL!!

I was going to post pictures of my darling little girl today. I've got some pretty cute ones. But now you are all going to have to wait for another day. All because of this. Haha!

I wonder if anybody is even going to take the time to read this? hehe.

Ok, Rant *off* Steping down from the soapbox.

GO Dalyana!! Soap-box all you want, but I'm sorry for no pictures!!
And if you want to enforce the no truly Anonymous posts, you can still do that without going to a private blog you know.

Yeah, but Ruth doesn't have a blogger ID, so she couldn't comment. She always leaves her name though. Lol.

I climbed on the "no signature" soap box once too Dalayna! :) I did read this whole post. You did it right...you backed up your side of it! :) Good job!! I did turn mine to ID posting only for awhile.

Anyone can sign up for a blogger ID without having a blog... (tip for Ruth if you want to go profile only!)

If it's REALLY "no different than sugar" then why don't they just use sugar?! Anybody who has to fund their own studies (think vaccine companies!) to prove their product is safe, when you can't find any independent studies that have the same results has something to hide!

To back you up even more and to prove that we do read your blog quotes from my school books "High-fructose corn syrups are increasingly being used in processed food products and are a major factor of increased sugar intake. Fructose is the sweetest of the simple sugars." I could go on but to make it short diabetes is on the rise in overweight people and I would put 2 + 2 together and get overweight people + excesive sugar in everything = problems. But you've already done a wonderful job at all of that.

I read it! :)

And yeah, anonymous comments with no signature...I haven't dealt with them on my blog, but there was a comment on someone else's blog that referred to me and I had no idea who posted it...grr!

Thanks for the soap box...I know I am not a medical study group or anything, but most of you know that I really watch Cody's diet for medical reasons, and I can say after 2 years of no HFCS he no longer gets bloated or temperatures of 106 and all of the other things that go wrong. And I can say the very day that he has something like store bought frosting or lots of HFCS, he gets really sick. I am glad others are starting to realize how serious an issue it is. (for the record...our family has maintained/lost weight since switching too)
