So finally getting back onto here :)
To answer the questions from my last post:
Is this an announcement??!!! Yes
Is there something in there??? We hope so!
Is Jessi excited to be a big sister? Yes :) She's always wanting to "see it" (therefore the meaning of the picture) It's extra fun when she tries to "see it" in meeting! She loves to kiss and hug the baby too.
All this excitement over belly button lint?! Hey now, belly button lint can be very exciting! Especially if you were wearing a colored shirt that caused the lint.
Wait a minute....really!?!?! When? Yes :D December 4th is our due date
have you seen this site? That's a cool site! Thanks!
I know some people don't like to tell so early, but we didn't want to wait any longer :D
If anybody's intrested, you'll get to join us on our journey to our first homebirth! We're very excited for that. I'll be seeing a midwife and we'll also be seeing my OB for backup and in case of an emergency or plans change.
I have had a few issues with feeling sick and other stuff, but the last few days have been really good. I'm not counting on it though! We'll see how it goes. :)

I am really happy for you! I have always wanted to do a home birth but can't since I have this silly o- blood and have to have RhoGam. I am looking forward to hearing about it!
Jeanette, I have O- blood too!
I need to look into the rhogam a little more and decide about this time and see what we'll do.
Yeah!! Congratulations we are always ready for another little cousin. We hope everything goes well.
Jeanette, I guess if I do get it, I can go into the Dr. the next day and get it :)
Crazy ladies, I'm 0 neagative too so you know who I will be calling if I need blood someday! We are totally excited about following your home birth!
Yay, yay!! I'm looking forward to it!
Exciting-- Are you planning on doing a waterbirth? Both mine were--at the hospital though-- I think a homebirth would be awesome but Shaun does not :)
Jeanette - I'm RH- also but I had a home birth! You have 72 hours to get the RhoGam if you need it, so Trey was born Saturday morning, and I called the clinic right away to let them know we'd need to come in for a newborn checkup and blood test since I was RH-. So on Monday morning, we went in for the blood test and check up, but Trey was RH- too so I didn't need the RhoGam anyway.
I would guess that a Licensed Midwife would be able to carry RhoGam.
Mom is O-...there seems to be several of you floating around! lol
So exciting! And I think home births are interesting! (and my mom thinks I'm crazy for thinking that...haha)
dec. 4 is a good day. Our anniversary and our son's bday
Dalayna,
did you have the rhogam with your first pregnancy?
I had one at 28 weeks with both kids and am due for one this week with the 3rd.
My problem is I have a bad reaction to the RhoGam. With Clayton I was given too much in the doseage. With Lindsy they were really careful on the amount...I still reacted but not as bad. Thankfully both kids turned out to have my same O- blood type and so I didn't have to have the 2nd shot after birth with either kiddo. I guess we will see with this one.
Just a short note of interest; I was discussing this with my midwife at my last appointment. She told me that in the last year the state of NM no longer gives the shot that they call RhoGam. They now give something called RhoFlex. Instead of the midwife being able to have RhoGam on hand they have to send us down to the local bloodbank. The RhoFlex is given intravenously (sp?) and given over a period of 2 hours. There is no additives in it to make it portable. It must be kept in the blood bank at body temperature since it is considered a 'raw' blood product. Apparently there was too many lawsuits from bad reactions to The RhoGam shot that they had to change it to this RhoFlex. The upside to this is that they put the antibodies straight into the blood stream, unlike the shot where they would stick you in the butt and hope it found its way to the right places. Apparently they are able to use way less the amount of blood product with the Rhoflex, thank they are able to with the RhoGam. I thought that was very interesting!
P.S. Will you email me your phone number...Wilfred is wanting a chance to talk to Wade.

congrats again, and glad to hear you are doing the home birth too. I am and my mom is NOT happy, but she will get over it, Curt is allowing it grudgingly only because my other two were so fast and he probably would end up with this one at home anyway...might as well have a midwife, LOL. Good luck with the RH- thing, can't comment there, I am +. Not too terribly early to tell either, only one month to the day behind me! (And I told a month ago) Glad Jessie is taking it so good. My boys say it better be a sister or they will be mad, HAHA as if they get the choice.
Jeanette - I didn't get the RhoGam during my last pregnancy... partly because my doctor was so not with it, but even if she would have suggested it, I would have refused. I don't see the point in getting it during pregnancy when you have to get it after the baby is born (if they are -) anyway... maybe I'm missing something though! I did get it during my first PG, but Kyrie was - too so I didn't need it at birth.
IIRC, the mothering.com forums have a lot of information on it.
Lynisha,
I asked the purpose of having it durning the pregnancy. I was told the following;
Because I am O- it is far more important that I have the RhoGam durning at 28 weeks, because O- blood while being the universal donor, the type itself is not compatibal with any other blood type. So not only do I have the RH factor but I have the O- factor.
Their reasoning is that if an O- person doesn't get the shot at 28 weeks and something should happen that would send the fetus into distress or cause our bloods to mix it would not only kill the baby but it would likey kill the O- mom as well.
I am not sure if you are O-, but if you happen to be any other type ( a-, b-, or ab-) it is not as critical that you have the shot during the pregnancy. Only after in case your bloods mixed.
When I was born my mom and my bloods mixed not much just a few drops. It nearly killed me. (My mom is O+) The only way they could think to get me to live was a complete blood transfusion. My the hand of god I pulled throgh with out the transfusion!
Dalayna,
Sorry for all my ramblings here You always manage to post about something that touches a nerve with someone! You should be proud of your ability to get people to think and discuss.
This is all so interesting. I got the shot at 28 weeks, but they can check after the birth to see if you have antibodies in your blood (if your blood mixed) and I didn't have to get a shot afterwards b/c our blood didn't mix. I am O- as well and was told the same thing about the 28 week shot that Jeanette shared. I am interested to learn about the RhoFlex...cool conversation gals.
Helen, We'll be hoping for a waterbirth! That's so neat that yours were. Wade wasn't crazy about a homebirth at first, but he's ok with it now. I'm going to watch "The buisness of being born" with him, which I really recommend.
Jeanette, I don't mind the discussion at all! I'm really needing to learn more aout the rhogam shot because I never looked into it very much. I never had a bad reaction with it (I made them stick it in my arm instead of my butt ;) I didn't want that needle near my butt. LOL!)
I guess I was thinking, because it's what they tell you, is that any shots you have during this pregnancy and after is to protect the next pregnancy and baby? So the shots I had last time would be to cover this baby? That's the only reason I question the 28 week shot, but like I said, I don't know that much about it :(
Intresting with the Rhoflex! Sounds like it might be a better choice?
Anyways yes, like Lynisha, I'll go in after the baby is born for the shot and for baby to be looked over by my Dr.
Jen, I'm excited to hear you're planning a homebirth!
Jeanette - Interesting! I'm not O so don't have to worry about those extra difficulties!
Well ladies I will promise to post my experience with the RhoFlex. I go in to get it within the next 2 weeks...I just need to call and set my appointment. It is sure to be a much different experience than the actual RhoGam shot!
